  • The entire Candle series highlights the use of the Candle for celebration and memorial.
    The figure carrying the Bak-invented contraption for transporting the burning candle provides illuminating and melted wax that embraces the bearer as well.
    Fortunately this figure has two left hands to manage the weight and support of the pile of books.

    Given that Bak is from Vilna (often called the Jerusalem of Lithuania) and was a place of great scholars and libraries, it is only appropriate that books are a part of his visual vocabulary.

    The illuminated building in the background provides another worldly sense of the entire space.
