  • TLF: "By way of a radio speaker hanging in the dining hall at the new Café Herrmanshöhe [I heard about] the slaughter of Ernst Röhm, General and Frau Schleicher and untold other ex-builders of the Dritte Reich. This news ... did not interfere with my enjoyment of the spectacle of the arrival of a fleet of colorful boats, in which some adventurous fisher folk were migrating eastward from Ahlbeck; I made several paintings with this motif."
