    Provenance: 1935 commissioned to Galerie Nierendorf, Berlin; 1936 returned as per Lagerbuch Galerie Nierendorf, p. 220, Nr. 1251; Photograph of the painting. The photograph shows the artist at his easel in his Paris studio with a view of the painting at left. The photograph was taken in 1933, during a photo shoot with Josef Tokayer, when his former fellow student visited him in Paris on his escape from Germany.
