A bird takes flight.
The shape of the dove is made from spaces between the fabrics that are held onto the board.
The static energy behind the bird is striking, considering birds are constantly moving, constantly flitting from one place to the next, until they reach their homes and the nests they’ve created, much like Bak himself.
There is also such a painterly quality to this image that Bak created as a silkscreen print. The layering behind the screen-printing process deftly lends itself to Bak’s way of working, and each layer so cleanly builds upon the next that one can only wonder if there is anything that Bak cannot do in the two-dimensional world of art.
