At the base of the fractured still life stands a complete pitcher, bottle and pear all primary to Bak’s visual lexicon. The monumental presentation has these three objects in fragments. Each form has been segmented and yet is recognizable.
Life has been hard on these inert objects, especially in the 20th and early 21st century. As ever, the source of the destruction and distortion has been humankind.
As in Ukraine it is people killing people and why?
We have been gifted this planet with its resources and what have we humans done and continue to do?
Decoding each of Bak’s works remains a pleasure and an opportunity.
