The target reminds us that in some way we are all targets eg the Synagogue hostage event in Texas, the massacre in the Church, the Norwegian Nazi rampage--all notes that we are all available for evil deeds against us because of who we are.
This remarkable drawing has a very attractive, abstract quality to it.
The ladder like frame on the right creates windows for the fragments of the chessboard and the target. Two pawns are shown. One almost fully and one hidden. Both hoping to survive.
