  • It has been an arduous journey from Eden throughout all of human history. Most recently the Holocaust, as well as subsequent genocides, have been survived. With each destruction humanity is further degraded and diminished.

Adam and Eve managed to schlep remnants of their survival: chimney and vacant house with smoke pouring from its chimney, a fragment of tree with baby branches and leaves as an indication that life does goes on.

Together Eve and Adam move forward as they also look back. We are all a part of all that we have met.

    ------------------------------------------

Ever poignant as the 5 million refugees from Ukraine are uprooted and carry with them their memories of home and life as it was before the war.

Adam and Eve are the primary couple to represent all families and those in flight to resettle.
    Where and how?
Adam's sack is filled with the enigmatic tree. Stripped of its bark and cut, somehow a sprig appears as its roots and has pushed out of the burlap bag. Eve's bag is filled with memories of home and the chimney emitting smoke, as well as the monumental chimney now defunct.

We are a part of all that we have met. As each day passes, another layer of our life lived accumulates. Memory is more permanent than matter. Words of Brother Thomas!

Bak records visual memories and questions.
