  • The attempt to be hidden from view by using the metal bird as camouflage is another Bak visual invention.
    The uniformed figure (possibly a soldier in hiding) is fully viewable.
    The combination of the bird and the man as another indication that the bird represents flight, hope and freedom from the world of war and loss.

    In the distance, intact buildings appear. Unlikely as a sign of hope. Simply a device to let us know that others are not so far.

    For a moment, squint and enjoy the design and texture of this painting beyond its implied content.
