When is the man the burden of the uprooted tree and when is the uprooted tree the man?
Life's challenges are bound to our very being.
The tree of life is us and we are the tree of life.
We both have been uprooted or displaced. We are called upon to carry the tree of Life through the terrain of devastation.
The bombed buildings and fields of Ukraine or the decimated towns and houses of Rwanda or Somalia. Somehow we humans have devised ever more horrific means of destroying one another.
As the person carries the uprooted tree, the tree and its carrier merge. They are both uprooted. The jagged roots and cut off branches add to the sense of pain and piercing.
There is no place to rest.
The conveyor and the conveyed are bound to wander the earth with no place to rest. Is this the curse of modern times.

Being uprooted has been one of the stories of Bak’s life until he and Josee settled in Weston, Massachusetts some 26 years ago. Until then he had been uprooted some 16 times. Eventually you learned how best to carry your roots with you.
Clearly the conveyance is the survivor as he not only carries his tree of life with its roots dangling but in hand hold the sprig of rebirth and the prospect of replanting.
Fortunately there is a blue directional arrow pointing the way.
