  • Nail it! Hammer it down! All idioms that come to mind as the "Debate, Unending" is our Bak of the Day.

Somehow the idea of finally nailing our ex-President suddenly becomes vivid. Millions of hours and dollars have been committed to finding a truth and then holding him accountable. It is still a very long road to conviction, but this is one among many investigations. More to come.

The debate may continue, but formal debates used to have strict rules. With the internet and freedom of speech there is sense that these definitions may be diluted. However more to come.

Hammers and nails are spread across the landscape. These instruments of building and construction have been discarded or buried. Are they no longer used to build and fabricate a better future?

The trio is presented as if they are engaged in the debate. Who did what and to whom? Hammer handles, nails and poles serve to hoist banners of victory or surrender. They do create visual movement and energy .

Above a contraption approximating the shape of an all-seeing eye watches over the proceedings. We are, as ever, left with unanswered questions.

    -------------------------------------------

He nailed it. Hard as nails. All apt idioms for this painting.
As if there could be an unending debate about life and death, war and peace. Good and evil.

Bak presents us with this image of people, hammers and nails.
How can we ever agree to disarm? To stop killing another? And to what end?

The structure in the sky suggests the seeing eye.
A flying hammer head and hammer almost reminding us of the Sickle and Crescent flag.

The hammers are arranged as if ready for a campfire.
Let us gather round to participate in the Unending debate!
