    Jacob's ladder was intended for the angels to ascend and descend. In the present world, Jacob is moribund and asleep as there is no action in his world.
    From the trio of small observers and the adjacent vacant house and ladder to nowhere, desolation predominates.

    Jacob's elbow is supported by an entire mound of vacant and destroyed houses in place of a pile of bodies or shoes. All reminders of the devastation wrought by others.
