We all need hope to live.
We need to believe that many possibilities are available to us to continue.
Yet the childhood of Bak certainly denied any possibility of hope. Given the enormity of the planned elimination of the Jews, there was little hope of survival, let alone the ability to thrive and to create.
Bak’s life is a testament to the vague possibility of hope.
These cups present the prospect of new growth and prosperity. Leaves and roots represent these possibilities. Again, the cups hold the silver spoon of success and civility.
How fortunate are we that Bak and his genius continue to alert us to many possibilities and of course questions about our human condition.
