  • Study for a larger series of questions. Where is the other oar?
Where is the person who had managed to row this boat? Why choose a cup as a place to anchor? How did the water arrive at this spot?

So many questions packed into this small format! The Cup series has filled the cup with many images and ideas.

Bak’s painting of water is most convincing so we begin to believe that such a scene exists. Indeed so many of these works keep us focused on different realities.

Just as we skip from a stabbing massacre in Canada to the continuing war in Ukraine to the continuing flow of lies and distortions of the former President, it is a time of great unease.

Art can awaken us to the need to act and improve the world. One small painting at a time!
