  • TLF: "At least one of my major pictures dates from these weeks in my father’s studio [during the summer of 1941]: Old Engine. This is the painting that nearly, although not quite, got into the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, being recommended for purchase by Mr. Constable, curator of paintings..." [105]

    LIFE Magazine 12.11.1951: "... Old Engine, in an imaginary scene by Lux, is a Baldwin beam-truck type of the 1840s which Lux studied in museums. At right is an old side-wheeler, at left, freighters near city wharves...."
