TLF: "The Charles River, Evoked", 1954 [101]; "The Charles River, Evoked", 1954 Cambridge [102, Nr. 118]
Whereabouts not known
Provenance: 1962 November, studio sale to Rod and Joan Nordell, Cambridge, MA
TLF: "The painting of The Charles River. Evoked may have been prompted, when I painted it in 1954, by the view through the trolley car window, flying along the river bank toward Waverley...; but, painting it, I had felt the breath of something eternal – out of sidereal time. ... [This] “new painting” began by manifesting itself in the new content; the next step to take, would be to search out the new form." [105]
