Presentation of Heads (Five small wood sculptures by T. Lux Feininger) Repro: MAIN
  • 1925, in Weimar
  • Negative untracable

  • Prints known:
    1. Private collection, gelatin silver print, ("Gas light print) 129 x 89 mm. Verso inscr. possibly by Julia Feininger: are these your work?

  • TLF: "In the winter of 1925 ... I had been engaged in building or "tinkering" with small objects and came across ... an old box-camera. I wanted to photograph my "small objects," that is, to take close-up pictures indoors in ordinary daylight. Since I didn't even have a tripod and the box-camera was really somewhat primitive, there were certain difficulties to overcome. [...] I still printed my very first negatives in a copy frame in the sunshine, but soon (even before the family left Weimar to move to Dessau in summer 1926) I followed the advice given to me to make "gaslight copies" (as the developing papers were then commonly called).".* [207]
