  • TLF: "I saw an ad in the paper for the Columbus Day trip up the river, of the “Alexander Hamilton”, last of the season. I made hot haste for the 42nd St. docks whence the Day-Liners sailed, and was in time to see her disappear around the end of the wharf, flags flying, brass band playing and the decks swarming with multi-colored holiday-makers. It was a bright, breezy October day and the wavelets of the river splashed musically at my feet." [205]
