  • TLF: "My “stencil painting” evolved out of an accidental discovery... I wished to make use of this fact for a figure composition based on a drawing of a nude I had made in my art class. ... [After a series of drawings on paper] I drew the two partially overlapping figures on my canvas free-hand. As I did so, color ideas came to me and before the drawing was finished my choice of pigments was made. This process yielded the painting Two Nudes and became the pioneer of the technique." [105]
