  • TLF: "... fishermen of Swinemuende. A large fleet of these broad beamed, shoal draft, but sharp lined sloops used to operate on the wide shallow waters of the sheltered bay of Swinemuende. Their tall heavy masts, spreading the high but narrow mainsail topped by the characteristically humpbacked square topsail, were beginning to make way for gasoline power in the 30's [The Rudder, October-1948]
