  • [[TLF, erroneously, in 1983, identifies the clarinette player sitting on the wall as being himself, and in 1990 as being Josef Tokayer; see quotes below.
Possibly this photograph is a collaborative work: The artist does not ask for the authorship of this photo because he only did the work in the dark room for it, but he did not press the trigger; see the explanation given in his letter from July 26, 1983, source [216].
In his letter from April 28, 1990, source [215], he remarks: "Authorship uncertain".]

TLF 26. Juli 1983: "... The photo with Ernst Egeler (with banjo, which he was not able to play) performing a wild 'Charleston' has been made with my camera, but not exposed by me. This would also have been very difficult, since it is me who is shown sitting on the wall and playing the clarinette (which however I knew to play). The work done in the dark room is by my hands."* [216]

TLF 28.4.1990: "Authorship uncertain. Sitting left, Josef Tokayer; in front, Ernst Egeler. The location is the roof of the Feininger-Albers "Meisterhaus". About 1932" [215]
